Lakeshore United FC offers a higher level of competition in its Select Program for U11 - U19 Girls and Boys. Playing on a LUFC Select team requires a year-long commitment by the player and their family. Each team is coached by a USSF/WYSA licensed coach and will receive training led by LUFC’s Director of Coaching, Jonathan Greenfield.
All teams have a mandatory team camp in July or August that stresses LUFC curriculum, philosophies and team building.
Why LUFC Select
The Select Program is for the committed soccer player that aspires grow and mature in the sport. This 12-month program focuses on player and team development in preparation for competitive league and tournament play. With increasing levels of competition, players will develop both technical skills and tactical awareness of the game.
Every spring, Lakeshore United FC hosts our own Select Tournament - Kickin' It Lakeside. Featuring talented clubs from across the state, players are able to enjoy a challenging tournament right here in Sheboygan.
The programming year begins with June Tryouts and concludes at the end of the following Spring Season. For U11-U15 athletes this includes:
As athletes enter high school, U15-U19 players will play a modified outdoor schedule that does not interfere with area high school soccer programs:
*Winter Futsal training is optional but all Select youth are encouraged to participate. Please see Futsal Program page for additional details and fees.
Teams are formed annually through a tryout process led by the LUFC DOC and licensed coaches during the month of June. Please see our Select Tryouts page for additional information.
Preseason Team Camps
Prior to the beginning of League play in the Fall, players will participate in mandatory Preseason Team Camps. These 4-day camps will occur in either June or July (depending on age group) and provides a critical foundation as teams prepare for the upcoming season of league and tournament play.
During the outdoor season, Select teams typically compete either in the Southeast Classic League (SECL) or the Wisconsin State League, which offers multiple divisions of increasing levels of competition. Both leagues are administered by Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA).
Teams will experience promotion and relegation throughout divisions and leagues based on their performance in league play. Teams experiencing success in the highest levels of the SECL have the opportunity to move onto the State League. Teams that excel in the State League will have opportunities to move into US Youth Soccer (USYS) administered leagues, starting with the Midwest Conference.
All home games take place in Sheboygan, Wisconsin - primarily at the Horace Mann Soccer Complex.
Southeast Classic League
Teams competing in the SECL should expect away games to be scheduled within a 1hr drive from Sheboygan, Wisconsin (Metro Milwaukee area).
WYSA State League
Teams competing in the WYSA State League should expect a majority of games to be scheduled within a 90 minute drive from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, but may include 1-2 matches elsewhere in the state. The league includes teams from Green Bay, Metro Milwaukee, Racine/Kenosha, Madison, and La Crosse.
USYS Midwest Conference
Teams advancing to the Midwest Conference should expect to compete against other teams throughout the midwestern United States. Typically, LUFC teams in the Midwest Conference compete against teams from Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa.
Rather than the typical Home/Away scheduling, the league schedule is more similar to a tournament format with multiple teams traveling to 1 location and playing 2-3 games weekend.
