Director of Coaching: Jonathan-Luke Greenfield
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, professional soccer player and LUFC Director of Coaching, Jonathan-Luke Greenfield grew up playing the game from a young age. “In South Africa, soccer is the #1 sport - the most popular,” explained Greenfield. “Parents start kicking the ball around with their children as soon as they can walk.” Greenfield joined his hometown Durbanville Football Club as soon as he could. He played there from U6 through U14 before joining the South Africa Youth National Team from U14 through U23.
Professionally, Greenfield played for Cape Town-based Vasco da Gama in 1999 and then for Mamelodi Sundowns in the South African Premier Soccer League from 2000 to 2003 before moving to the United States. In the US, Greenfield experienced success with both outdoor and indoor teams. Greenfield enjoyed seven seasons with the Milwaukee Wave and has also played with the Detroit Ignition, Baltimore Blast, Cedar Rapids Rampage, Minnesota Thunder, Rochester Rhinos, and San Antonio Scorpions.
In 2016, Greenfield joined Lakeshore United FC as the Director of Coaching. As the Director of Coaching, Greenfield is responsible for day-to-day coaching operations, developing the coaching staff, and making sure players of all ages receive instruction and training consistent with LUFCs core philosophy and vision.
After becoming a US citizen in 2017, Greenfield was recruited to play on the U.S. Men’s Beach Soccer National Team. He has represented the U.S. in international play from 2017 through 2019.
Despite all of his success on the pitch both as a player and coach, this 5-time champion often thinks about where it all started. “It’s funny - when I reflect on my youth soccer experience, I don’t think about the national team. I think about Durbanville FC,” Greenfield said. “That’s where I learned to play, where I spent time with my friends, and where I formed many of my childhood memories.
“Lakeshore United is a lot like Durbanville...I want to see us continue to grow as a club and a family in this sport that we love."
Jonathan resides in Cedarburg, WI with his wife, Layne. They have 2 sons, Espen (7) and Aven (3) and a beloved black labrador, Murphy.

U11-U14 Technical Director: Sam Schroeder
Sam Schroeder joined LUFC in 2019 and serves as the U11-U14 Technical Director. This former collegiate player and coach is responsible for player development during the first four years of the Select Program.
The Monticello, Minnesota native returns to Sheboygan where he attended Lakeland University. He majored in Education and played soccer from 2003-2006. After graduation, he set forth to pursue his career ambition of being a soccer coach and joined the staff of Lakeland University as the Assistant Coach for the men's team. During that time, he was also the Head Soccer Coach at Plymouth High School where he helped lead the boys team to the state semifinals in 2010.
In 2011, Schroeder became the Head Coach for the women's soccer team at Ripon College. During his 6 years at Ripon, he helped transform the women's soccer program to become regionally ranked.
In 2017 Schroeder was an Assistant Coach at Indiana University before moving back to Minnesota to coach the U17 Development Academy at the prestigious Shattuck St. Mary's school from 2018-19.
Schroeder is an avid fisherman and is excited to be back in Sheboygan - both for the access to Lake Michigan and the unique opportunities at LUFC. "Here we are really focused on 2 key areas: developing age groups and developing individual players. At the college level you develop teams so you can win...in the development academy you develop players. Here we're doing both."
In addition to his Technical Director responsibilities, Schroeder is also the coach for the U11 and U12 Girls Select Teams.
Schroeder lives in Sheboygan with his wife, Abby. They have 2 children, Sully (7) and Hadley (4), whom are both active in the LUFC Academy and Stars programs.

Academy Director: Chris Lacey
Chris Lacey has a passion for the development of the soccer community throughout Wisconsin. As Academy Director, Lacey is responsible for the development of the next generation of LUFC athletes. Lacey sees this as a critical age group where skill development begins to accelerate as players dedicate and invest more time into the sport. "A lot of people have misconceptions about the Academy program," explained Lacey. "They think that you have to demonstrate a certain set of skills to be in the Academy, but it's actually the opposite...You gain skills by participating in the Academy, because you get significantly more touches on the ball every week."
Lacey, born and raised in Sheboygan, wears a number of hats for LUFC and the soccer community in Wisconsin. In addition to his responsibilities as LUFC Academy Director, he also serves as the Director of Operations, Coach for the Select U15 Boys Pool, Coach of the Select U14 Girls Pool, and is President for the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association. While soccer now dominates his life, that wasn’t always the case. “I didn’t play soccer as a kid. Basketball was more my thing.” But after Lacey became a father to children that loved the sport, he decided to get involved.
Lacey got his coaching start at the Sheboygan YMCA and has never looked back. He has now been coaching for over 20 years including time spent with local recreational teams, Mequon United, North High School, and several LUFC Select teams, including the U18 Select Girls who were the 2017 Wisconsin State Cup Finalist. Lacey holds a USSF Class C coaching license.
Chris resides in Sheboygan with his dog Charlie and has 3 children: Bonnie (22), CJ (19), and Owen (14).
